Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Policy explains how MarketChoice collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use marketchoice.app and related services. We aim to follow Canadian privacy principles under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

2. Information we collect

• Account and profile: your name, email, password (hashed by our authentication provider), optional company name, interests, skills, photos, handle and bio.
• Listings and jobs: job, service and product details, photos, budgets and locations you provide.
• Messages and reviews: communications and reviews you send on the Platform.
• Location: approximate or precise location you share for maps, nearby jobs or alerts, subject to device permission where applicable.
• Payments: Stripe processes payments and payouts. We receive limited payment status and account identifiers. Stripe handles card and bank details under its own privacy terms; MarketChoice does not store full card numbers on its servers.
• Notifications: email preferences and web push subscription information when you enable these channels.
• Technical information: IP address, device and browser type, cookies or similar technology, and usage analytics such as page views to maintain and improve the service.

3. How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, display listings, match opportunities, enable messaging, process payments and payouts, and send transactional emails or push notifications such as messages and job updates. We may also use it for marketing if you opt in, fraud and abuse prevention, legal compliance and improvements to the Platform.

4. Sharing

We share personal information with providers that help operate MarketChoice, including hosting, authentication and database services such as Lovable Cloud, email and analytics providers, and Stripe for payments. We share information with other users as needed for a transaction, such as your name or profile on a job, and with authorities when required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Stripe

Stripe is an independent payment processor. When you pay or set up payouts, Stripe processes personal and financial information under its own privacy policy. You must complete the identity checks Stripe requires for Connect payouts.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage for sessions and authentication, preferences and analytics. Your browser lets you control cookies and similar storage. Disabling them may prevent some features from working.

7. Retention

We keep information while your account is active and as needed for the purposes described here, legal obligations, dispute resolution and security. You can request deletion. We may need to retain limited records where the law requires it.

8. Your rights (Canada)

Subject to applicable law, including PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA, you may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it, for example for marketing or optional push notifications. Contact privacy@marketchoice.app. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Alberta Information and Privacy Commissioner.

9. Children

MarketChoice is for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe this has happened, contact us and we will take steps to delete the information.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted transport and access controls. No transmission or storage method is completely secure.

11. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States or other countries. We take steps appropriate under Canadian law when information is processed outside Canada.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy and post a new version with an updated date. We will communicate material changes in a reasonable way.
